What We Can' t See
Another amazing thing about photography is that it can capture want we can’t see.
Robert Capa did not only capture American troops land on Omaha Beach, he also confined the energy of that day onto film. Not only do we see his photograph, we also feel the horror of war. When I shot the image of Jessica last weekend you do not only see a beautiful girl looking into a camera. There is more to it. The image reveals something about the person, I captured something that we can’t see but feel.
To me it is much less important what I see when we look at an image then what I feel. Does the image move me? Did I capture something mysterious, unexplainable and/or powerful? Did I capture “it”?
