Maine (Part 1)

After 18 hours Kristian and I reached our final destination Machias in Maine. Chris picked us up with his truck; it was great to see him. On the way to his house we stopped by at the local super market to pick up some beer before we finally reached Lubec.

Lubec must be the quietest place I have ever been to. There is absolutely nothing going on besides a car passing by every 15 minuets or so. It is the absolute opposite of New York City and very close to the Canadian border. From Chris’s porch we were able to see the border patrol that was only one block away.

Walter one of Chris’s neighbors came by with his puppy Skippy. He lives in a boat that he put on land and gutted. We went to his place. He has an amazing view over the nearby river with Canada as a background. Within minuets Skippy and I became best friends and were rolling around on the grass.

We went back to Chris’s house. Another neighbor, George came by and then the party got started. We talked a lot and had quite a few beers. Chris and Kristian played the guitar and George performed a collection of his latest songs.

Around 11:30PM Walter and George went home while Chris, Kristian and I decided to have a stroll in the city. The night was not over yet. :-)
