The Future Of Photography
Last week I spent two days at the Jacob Javis Center to visit the Photo Plus Expo one of the biggest photography shows in the world. It was an amazing show. There was so much to see and so many new inventions to absorb. It was never as clear to me as at the moment that the photography industry is changing rapidly and that what we consider a photographer today will soon not exist in that form any more.Since more and more content is going to the web the future of photography will include sound and moving images. Video cameras are already in production that shoot such high-resolution footage that still images can be pulled from it and used for print campaigns. Canon just released a camera that not only can shoot 21 Mega pixel stills but also HD video.Still photography and video are merging.Even though I am always for change and have long been interested to include moving images to my work and have done so I wonder how much more time my colleges and I will have to spend on computers. It is the place where I use up most of my time already. Processing files, retouching, writing e-mails, writing the blog, learning new programs and sending out invoices. How many more hours per day will I have to spent sitting in front of a screen to learn sound and video editing programs and then apply them? Will there still be time in the day to do anything else?Well, I am getting ready for whatever awaits me. I ordered an ergonomic office chair that will arrive tomorrow. If I have to sit on my butt all day I at least want to do it comfortably. :-) "The Future Of Photography" Manhattan/New York City/Photo Expo 10-24-08 at 01:53 PM
