Fear Of The Future

Years ago I shot a series of images that I called “Fear Of The Future” and just recently submitted it to the Viewbook Photo Competition.

There are some amazing photo stories online. Here you can find my submission.

I somehow messed up and did not upload the text that was supposed to go with the story but here it is for the blog readers:

“Why would the future be a dark and dangerous place? Is this fear necessary, not needed or even worst a self fulfilling prophecy?

Would the future without projecting onto it be a safe place? Is there nothing to fear? Or is fear necessary for our survival?

Most of my life I was very afraid of the future. I never had a reason for it since my life had always played out just fine. Was this fear passed on from my parents who had to live though the Second World War and its aftermath? Or is it routed even deeper going back to a time when humans were hunters and gatherers and constantly had to worry about survival?

In the process of working through my fear of the future my therapist suggested to express my feelings though images.

That inspired me to shoot this series of photographs.”

It would be great if you could leave a comment about the story and pass the link on to your friends.
