Ink In Water
I just finished another still life fine art project. I had already started to work on it last year but had not gotten around to finish it.For days I’ve been dripping ink into water while eagerly waiting what pattern would form. To make things more interesting I pulled out my good old medium format camera and shot the whole project on film.Again it was not easy. I shot the first half though a tank that I specifically had built for the shoot last year. During the second part I used a different tank, placed it on a piece of glass and the camera was shooting from the bottom up into it what gave it a completely new perspective. The days were long and consisted of filling up the tank, making sure its outside was dry and clean, putting it on the set and waiting for the water to settle down before I was able to drip ink into it.After a few drops the water got cloudy, I had to dump it and start the process again. Per filled tank I was not able to get more then 3-5 shots.I still had an amazing time. What happens with ink in water is mystical. The forms and patterns are completely random and at the same time tremendously beautiful.I started running the film today and will post more images soon. :-) "Ink In Water" Williamsburg/Brooklyn/Ink in Water 05-14-10
