Shadow Of War
In the last few months I spent a lot of time editing the interviews I conducted with people that lived during the time of the Second World War while I was staying in Germany in January. The name of the project is now:” Shadow Of War - German Memories Of WWII."I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel after listening to about 24 hours of recordings and editing them but I still have quite some way to go. For each interview I create a full length, a five minuet exhibition and a one minuet preview version.I want to thank at this point everybody who was willing to be interviewed and share his or her often haunting and sad stories in such an honest way. What I loved most about the project is that the people I interviewed reminded me so much of my grandparents that I miss tremendously since they died a couple of years ago.The war generation is different. Most of the people I questioned were still children during that time but all of them had experienced a period of great hardship. They value peace, food, clothing and shelter differently. They appreciate them and don’t take them for granted. My hope is that their stories will help to avoid that anything like the Second World War will ever happen again and that humanity is finally learning from its past mistakes. But how can I make their message be heard?I’m very excited to be able to announce today that there will be a multi-media exhibition at the “Deutsches Haus” here in New York City from November 23 to December 17 with an opening on November 23.Please also check out the “Deutsches Haus” event website here.I would make me very happy to see you guys at the opening.
