Bad For You
Since I had such an amazing response to my “squashed rat” image yesterday I continue with an image of a dead bird today. Unfortunately I’m running out of dead animal material for tomorrows post. Sorry gang! :-)I found this obviously suicidal bird a few weeks ago on my way to the subway. Until that day I was completely unaware that birds smoke. This is so new to me but this bird must have smoked since I photographed it exactly how I found it. Inhaling the smoke must have killed it immediately because birds have much smaller lungs that are much more sensitive then the lungs of humans. The big difference between the dead rat and the dead bird is of course is that the rat was crossing the street trying to avoid the cars but was unlucky enough to get squashed by one. This bird on the other had was fully aware that smoking is bad for you, I'm sure other birds tweet about the effects of smoking all the time, but it did it anyway and died. Why was it doing that? I can’t wrap my head around this. Why would anybody in his right mind do something knowing that it is bad for him or her?
