I met Jim here in Gallup after his daughter who is friends with one of my housemates stopped by at the place I'm staying. I told her that I was interested in learning more about The Navajos reservation and she told me that I should talk to her father.Jim was a FBI agent on the Navajo reservation for the last 10 years of his career until he retired in 2000. We met for a coffee and he offered me to take me out to the reservation.A few days later he picked me up by car and we went to Window Rock, the capital of the Navajo Nation, Canyaon de Chelly and the Hubble trading post. During our eight hour trip I learned a lot about Navajo tradition and lifestyle. Because Jim spent so much time traveling throughout the reservation his knowledge of Navajo history is impressively vast. The landscapes and especially Canyon de Chelly were absolutely breathtaking.Jim is very active in his church and recently wrote a book titled "The Promise of the Father" about the last words Jesus spoke to his disciples that you can order here.We did not have the time to do the interview and take the picture the day we were traveling but I got together with him a few days ago again and he was so nice to give me an interview and I was able to take a picture of him.I want to use this opportunity to thank Jim for taking a whole day to show me the most beautiful landscapes I've ever seen even though he just had met me. I think that shows best what kind of person he is.
