Inner Demons
First I want to thank Zenschredding for his comment on “Upside Down” yesterdays post. He said:
Steven Wolinsky once wrote: ” The purpose of true spirituality is to uncover at all costs the lies you tell yourself, no matter how small. Each one of us is responsible for the lies he/she erects. A true spiritual warrior needs to look at acknowledge and dismantle their lies. This takes great courage…”
To move on, to evolve, to free ourselves we have to dismantle our lies we have to face our inner demons. We know that things are not how we pretend them to be. Our real selves are suppressed but they still exist and they know exactly what is going on. They can see the truth very clearly. But as soon as it surfaces the ego suppresses it to avoid change. We know it is there but we do not want to look at it.
But to grow spiritually we have to let go of our illusions and face the truth. We have to be honest to ourselves and look at what haunts us.
We have to look at all areas of our lives and find out what the truth is. Where do we lie to ourselves? Are my relationships what they seem to be? Do I love my profession? How do I feel about myself? Why do I do this or that? Why am I attracted to certain people?
This will agitate our demons. They do not like questions like that. They do not want us to find out who they are. They want to stay, they want to keep on doing what they have been doing all along and they are willing to fight for their survival.
Looking at were they come from understanding what they are and realizing that they are not good for us will destroy them over time. But like Steven Kolinsky said it takes great courage to do so. There are many of them and we have to face them one at a time to destroy them.
But one day we will have let go of most of them. We will run into this person who will call us stupid, ugly, weak, a loser, tell us that we are not interesting, make us feel guilty and questions our potential. All we do is to smile. We smile because we know that we are intelligent, beautiful, strong and are doing very well. We have realized that we are very interesting, that we are a good person and that we live our highest potential.
We have conquered the dark side, our demons, the part that was constantly nagging on us, was putting us down and made our lives hell and found true freedom.
