Recording

Today I spent most of the day in the recording studio. I had seen Max Wild And Sam Mtukudzi perform with their band here in New York on Saturday at Joe’s Pub and was very impressed. Max is originally from Germany but grew up in Zimbabwe; he is an amazing saxophone player. Sam is the son of Oliver Mtukudzi one of Africa’s most famous musicians; he sings and plays the guitar. Like I said the performance on Saturday was amazing and Joe’s pub was packed. Even more amazing to me is that Max is 26 and Sam just 19. Sam's voice is breathtaking.

Today they went to the studio to record the songs they played on the weekend for an album that will be release by Obliqsound. My job was to document the process. I had a great time. It was amazing to see how that whole recording business works. And I thought photography is complicated at times. J I would love to be a musician; well I might get into it in my next lifetime. It seems very difficult to me when but you know what you are doing it is probably as easy as taking pictures.

There will be a second part to this shoot on Thursday. I will let you guys know when I post some of these images on my website and when the album is released.
