The Fire Of Truth
While I spent time in Vermont last week we always had a fire in the fireplace in the living room. It is addictive to look at the flames and see them eat away what used to be a tree. It reminded me on my childhood. My father was really into staring at fires. Back then we had a fireplace in our living room as well. He would make a fire; turn all the lights off in the house and while his eyes were locked onto the flames nobody was allowed to speak. So I stared at the flames with him.
Fire and the truth are very similar. This is why people are so afraid of it because the truth burns away what is false and fire always hurts. Who wants to go through the pain of the truth burning away all the illusions we have created about ourselves, the people around us and the world? I don’t and nobody else I know wants to go through this either.
The only reason we would change is by being forced to do so, if our lives are so painful that we have no other choice. Honestly, is it fun to be a piece of wood? All it does is lie around. Chopped wood cannot move, smile, dance, express itself or have any form of adventure on its own.
What happens when we burn it? Its energy is set free. The energy is freed of being trapped in a piece of wood. Now it is everywhere and anything. It can travel wherever it wants, can have fun, do whatever it wants to do and have lots of adventures.
As for the wood the fire of truth will hurt but set us fee.
