The opening for the “Out-Our Voices” project was a huge success. The big day was on June 20th just days before gay marriage was finally legalized in New York State.  The venue was the historic Stone Wall Inn, the place where the gay riots broke out in 1969, what started the gay rights movement. We got a lot of press for the event. Time Out New York, Next Magazine and Gay Cities covered it. There was an interview with me in Gotham magazine and this time around we even had TV coverage by NY1! :-) The silent auction was also a huge success. Half of the images were sold and 100% of the proceeds were given to the Ali Forney Center, a non for profit organization for homeless LGBT teens. There is also a very cool website for the project where you can listen to sound clips of the interviews.“OUT-our Voices” would not have been possible without the help of many people. I want to thank everybody I interviewed and photographed.  Thank you for being so open and honest with me. The two people who really made this project possible are my friends Jason Frye and Mark Nelson. They spent countless hours connecting me with people and organizing the shoot schedule. Thank you so much guys! I could not have done without you. Many thanks also go to Shannon Brown for designing such an amazing website. If you need somebody to design your web presence don’t look any further! This was a wonderful project and I’m honored to have met so many incredible and wonderful people in the process of working on it. We will have another venue to show the exhibit soon. To get information about when and where please sign up for the projects Facebook page. Looking forward to seeing all of you next time. :-)
