Ist Der Ruf Erst Ruiniert.....

There is an old saying in Germany that was attributed to Wilhelm Busch or Berthold Brecht but was actually really first recited in 1945 by the comedian Werner Kroll:“Ist der Ruf erst mal ruiniert, lebt's sich gänzlich ungeniert.""Once your reputation is ruined, you can stop worrying about what other people think."There is a lot of beauty in not having to live up to a reputation. This freedom a nobody has but a somebody is totally lacking. As a nobody you don’t have to do anything to defend some story that either you or society has invented about yourself because a nobody doesn’t have a story only a somebody has.Because of the inherent need to be somebody this freedom is totally lacking in today’s society. How would the world look like if we would let go of wanting to be somebody and would live our lives without the need of approval? What if we would willingly destroy this “reputation” this idea we have about ourselves and free us by doing so to be able to be who we are and do whatever we are inspired to do?
