The second day of the year.............

Every New Year’s I have to think about this old U2 song “New Year’s Day”. What they said back then is still true. Nothing changes on New Year’s Day. We have all these hopes and ideas about what the New Year will bring, how we will live life in a better way. But nothing changes if we do not change. New Years is a great example to show that time is an illusion because all that changes that day are numbers and nothing else. To create change we have to change, we have to make an effort. At the same time a New Year always helped me to take on new things and to make changes. From doing meditation or practicing yoga every day to not drinking for five years. It always started on the first of January. To me it is a great way to start something new, to change my life to the better. I have all these goals for this year. I am doing well. I am writing my blog for the second consecutive day (only another 363 days to go) and I took my vitamins. But I am still swamped with all these receipts I have been tossing behind me and my exercise routine is not where I want it to be. And right away I am impatient and have to think about U2 all day long. J But change is something we have to work on, it does not happen overnight. It takes patience, perseverance and time. But who has time for that? We are so used not to have to wait for anything that we want to turn the switch and have things change right away. Since that is not possible it is very hard to change. There is really nothing changing on New Year’s Day. But if we change our actions and habits the future will change because of a New Year.
